Dye Penetrant Testing – Level II

In the industrial sector every critical product (beams for construction, support screws, aeronautical components, automotive components, pressure vessels) should be checked to verify its integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.

It is well known that a small surface crack, harmless in normal conditions, when subjected to fatigue stresses, is constantly growing in size up leading to break the component.

The training of involved personnel in non-destructive testing is specified by the various standards such as ISO 9712, Recommended Practice n° SNT-TC-1A, NAS 410.

The qualifications can be obtained for areas of product and industrial sectors as castings (c), forgings (f), welded products (w), tubes and pipes, including flat products for the manufacturing of welded pipes (t), wrought products (wp), composite materials.

Candidates

Consultants, persons in charge of Quality Management Systems in welding, quality control managers, production managers, welding coordinators, personnel in charge of welding processes, welders and welding operators.

Prerequisites

Experience and specific knowledge of welding techniques and materials technology are required for a minimum of 1 year.

Requirements for qualification according to Recommended Practice n° SNT-TC-1A

  • possession of the certificate of visual acuity also released by optometrist (Jaeger 1 or Times New Roman 4.5) and normal colour sense (Ishihara test)
  • declaration of provided training issued by a SNT Level III (about 40 hours)
